Jim Shoulders won rodeo’s All-Around World Championship in 1949, 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959. He won the bareback bronc riding world championship title in 1950, 1956, 1957 and 1958. And, in the event he is most famous for, he won the bull riding world championship in 1951, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959.

Plus, amazingly, he finished second (“Reserve Champion”) in either bareback bronc riding or bull riding ten other years. So he actually came very close to holding 27 world championship titles.

Stan Paregien conducted two different interviews with Jim and Sharon Shoulders at their home in Henryetta, Oklahoma in 2006. He died in 2007.

This, then, is the story of this amazing athlete’s life and career.
