This collection of 111 original and unpublished anecdotes is the final product of fifty years effort by the author. The brief tales reflect the irony of human situation, its poignancy and paradox as well as the pathos and humour. Nasrudin revels in most pungent and vitriolic comments not only on the futility of worldly endeavours but also of spiritual pursuits. He is not the one who invariably wins always unlike the court jesters. His witticism makes one think and simultaneously laugh.

Unlike a typical sufi, Nasrudin is epicurian in tastes, hedonistic in quests and rebellious in words and deeds. This has made Mulla tales immortal with perennial appeal to mankind anytime and everywhere.

More than a dozen of the stories included here are wonderful conundrums, eternally puzzling and none ever published. Perhaps this is the
largest body of riddles ever assembled. Most other stories are allegorical in character with more than one layer of meaning.
