This brief account aims at nothing more ambitious than to lend some perspective to your travels. In this respect, it will concentrate largely on events on the mainland and dwell more on the age when the great temples and cities were built. Nowhere else in the world does the force of history overwhelm the mind in such a startling fashion as when you are standing amongst rocks fashioned and placed by the hand of man with such architectural brilliance.
