Cleavers herb can be found growing wild around the globe. It is a type of evergreen and from April through September it bears small white flowers and tiny fruits that "cleave" to clothing or animals. Hence the name. Cleavers can grow up to about 5 feet . Its botanical name is Gallum aparine and common names include Goosegrass, Catchweed, Mutton Chops or Hayriffe. Related to coffee, cleaver has been historically popular for its cleansing effect.
