This book, Duel With the Darkness, Part One (volume three of the Brothers to the Bone series), continues the saga of an eight man LRRP team of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. It begins with intrigue in the near present day (1995) with a look backward at the events and men who relationships that still endure twenty five years later. It is primarily set in operations inside Cambodia in support of Igloo White support missions as well as other interdiction patrols. Its principal characters are the members of one particular LRRP team designated Delta and its eight members who came to call themselves “Brothers to the Bone’. Its members were all young, but they spanned from black to white, Indian and Hispanic. They were rich and poor, some urban, mostly southern, mostly country men who grew up in the woods. Their story is one shared by thousands of men who’s story has never been told.
