Scientific Name: Lantana camara. Common name: 'Lantana, but sometimes called 'Shrub verbena'. This is a nice little ornamental tropical shrub that is widely cultivated for its attactive, multicolored flowers. Native to Belize, Central America and West Indies. Easy to grow from seeds; it will thrive in fertile, moist, but well-drained soils. Grow outdoors in tropical areas. Lantana is an excellent plant to attract butterflies. It's one of the top nectar producing plants. Butterflies don't lay eggs on it as it's not a host plant but they do love the nectar they produce.
