Quite unexpectedly last year, at age 76, Ethiopian saxophonist Getatchew Mekuria expressed an urge to make one more recording. This one, with the Ex - probably the last one in his life. The result is stunning. Deep, old, classic melodies. Deep, sensitive & fragile instrumentals, amazing horn-riffs & solos. But also danceable, with up-tempo war-chants. Comes with extra CD of Getatchew historical recordings (including a live set with the Ex in Montreal, his work with ICP Orchestra & the Haile Selassie 1 Theatre Orchestra).
