Veneer scrapers, used to apply veneer and laminates to a substrate, are a veneerer's best friend. This scraper is made of vulcanized fiber core, a strong material that will not mar a wood surface. When used properly, it creates a stronger surface contact than an ordinary roller. Start in the center of the sheet, and work out in the same direction as the grain.
