KATO N SCALE AMFLEET II 2 CAR - SET B... PROTOTYPE INFORMATION: The Amtrak "Amfleet" Car Design was one of the first car types that the corporation ordered to start replacing their aging car fleet inherited when they took over from the freight railroads in 1971. The Amfleet I cars were a new design and had a body style that very much look like the body of the most modern jet aircraft. With many new modern improvements like new style trucks, upgraded seats, better lighting and other features these were truly a big enhancement over the cars they replaced. They also developed other car types including a "Cafe" car. Initially these "Amfleet" cars ran on the West Coast on the famous "San Dieagan" trains and also along the North East Corridor. After the success of these cars, Amtrak placed an order for a second run dubbed the "Amfleet II's". The main spotting difference in these cars over the Amfleet I's is that the Amfleet II cars had only a "Single" vestibule on one end of each car. (The Amfleet I's had a vestibule on each end). Other improvements were also made. Kato model is based on the "Amfleet II" cars. MODEL INFORMATION: Cafe Car Is an Amfleet II Style Car. Baggage Car Is A "Standard" Style Heritage Car. Both Cars Are Highly Detailed. Each With Smooth Running Trucks Can Be Lighted Using Kato's Optional Lighting Kit KA-11-212 (Not Included).
