Requiem for a Heavyweight- 72 minutes-1956-black and white. This is the classic Playhouse 90 television version of the Rod Serling tale of a boxer who is past his prime. Jack Palance is remarkable as Mountain McClintock,a simple but kind heaveyweight who has no future as boxing is all he knows. Keenan Wynn plays Maish, McClintock's manager who owes money top the mob. Kim Hunter, of Planet of The Apes fame, plays Grace, an employment agent who takes an interest in McClintock. Rounding out the cast is famed comedian Ed Wynn, in a serious role as Mountain McClintock's protector. Patterns- 84 minutes- 1956- black and white. This is the movie version of another brilliant story by Rod Serling. This brilliant drama is about the pressures within the executive branch of a major New York industrial company. Everett Sloane plays cold, ruthless company head Walter Ramsey, who hires Fred Staples, played by Van Heflin. Fred Staples initially starts under the supervision of long time number-2-man, William Briggs, played by Ed Begley. However, unknown to both is Mr. Ramsey's ultimate goal of forcing out Briggs and replacing him with Staples. This slowly becomes all too clear however as Mr. Ramsey showers Fred Staples with praise while simultaneously browbeating poor Mr. Briggs. Things come to a dramatic head at an important boardroom meeting.
