Jimmy Reed's success and popularity effectively boiled down to the simplicity of his style; his version of the blues was accessible to all and sundry, with everyone from Elvis Presley to local groups recording or performing his songs, thus further popularizing both the singer and his catalog. Ultimately, Jimmy Reed sold more records than Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf or any of his blues contemporaries, although success came with it's own share of problems, including alcoholism and epilepsy that bedeviled his career. Yet as far as his recordings were concerned, he was without equal, as this collection of greatest hits proves beyond all doubt.
