Ticks may carry pathogens that cause Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, HGA, Rickettsiosis and other illnesses. A nymphal deer tick is the size of the head of a pin. Ticks quest and attach to their hosts from the ground—they don't fly or jump. Lymeez® tick gaiters are purpose-built™ to intercept questing ticks as they instinctively climb. With Active Release™ repellency, normal ambulatory abrasion of the Lymeez® tick gaiter against pants or leg causes some of the millions of microcapsules to burst, constantly releasing tick-sickening permethrin. The active ixodicidal ingredient of Lymeez®, permethrin, is a made-made version of pyrethrum. Pyrethrum is a naturally occurring insecticide found in chrysanthemums. Permethrin has been a registered ixodicide with the EPA since 1977. Knitted in Italy of 90% nylon and 10% spandex, Lymeez® tick gaiters have been expertly treated in the USA. Size: Adult and Junior (kids 6-12). One size fits most. Wear over pants or bare legs. Care: Do not dry clean; dry cleaning removes active ingredient. Wash separately from other clothing or washables. Repellency lasts through 25 washings, the estimated life of the product. Do not re-treat with other permethrin insect repellent products. Do not contaminate water, food, or feed for storage or disposal. Discard in trash when worn out. Active Ingredient: Permethrin @ 0.52%-the concentration permissible by the EPA for garments. The EPA (2005) has found no health risk to wearers of permethrin-treated garments at approved levels.
