There’s no arguing that Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans was one for the books, and every Ravens fan already knows the happy ending. The Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which had been devastated by Hurricane Katrina, was completely renovated and filled with hopeful fans. There was an unparalleled energy of competition and camaraderie; for the first time in league history, two brothers were coaching the rival teams. To make the occasion even more memorable, following a killer half-time show by pop diva Beyoncé, a power glitch caused the stadium lights to go dark for 34 minutes mid-game.
Most remarkable about that particular Sunday, however, was that it was the last game Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis would ever play. Ray’s Ride: The Amazing Journey of Ray Lewis recaps the fascinating career highlights that brought Ray, a Raven since the team’s 1996 inception, through injury and scandal and to his second Super Bowl victory.
