On one level, this is a coming-of-age story, with a little bit of mystery, a touch of intrigue, and a hint of romance. But there are other levels, including one that is, literally, out of this world.

As in a play, there are characters and props. The characters are people you know, and before you're through you'll know them very well. They represent every hue of the moral spectrum, from saint to sociopath, but each of them has a part to play. The props include bells and pillows and bayberry candles, bullets and fireworks and plaid flannel shirts. Come on in, find your seat, and let’s cue the curtain. You’re going to enjoy this.
