Product Review
Organic whole chana, also known as organic whole bengal gram, is produced by removing the outer layer of kala chana, or black chickpeas. A staple of Indian cuisine, organic chana is most commonly soaked in water and prepared as a dal, or added to soups. In addition to its varied uses, whole bengal gram also offers significant nutritional value. Organic bengal gram is an excellent source of protein, and is notable for its low glycemic index. As a Certified USDA Organic, non-GMO and vegan product, our organic whole chana dal perfectly complements vegan and vegetarian lifestyles. Certified USDA Organic products are grown and produced using methods that preserve the environment while avoiding synthetic materials such as antibiotics and pesticides. Such products are produced by organic farmers and food processors that preserve natural resources and biodiversity, only use approved materials, support animal health and welfare, do not used genetically modified ingredients (GMOs), receive annual inspections, and separate organic food from non-organic food. They also follow standards that cover the product from farm to table, including pest control, soil and water quality, and rules for food additives. Our organic whole Bengal gram is GMO-free, meaning no specific changes were introduced into its DNA via genetic engineering.
