Smooth Beardtongue is a 2' to 4' tall native perennial flowering from mid-spring until early summer. The large tubular two-lipped white flowers may be 1 ¼" long on showy panicles. Smooth Beardtongue is often found in prairies, fields, woodland edges and roadsides. It prefers dry to moist soils in full sun. It is often used in borders, native plant gardens, wildflower meadows, and in wildlife habitat plantings. It makes a good cut flower. Birds eat the seed and it attracts butterflies and other pollinator species.
