This valve replaces the OE valve that commonly fills with carbon deposits and clogs up causing a PO401 trouble code. A proper diagnosis should be performed to verify the remaining EGR system is functioning properly. Replacing a clogged EGR valve is the most common solution, however if you have a clogged EGR valve, it is important to also clean the upper intake and perform an engine induction cleaning to remove other carbon deposits.
