The only component on your compressor, that never stops moving, is your clutch and most failures are the clutch NOT the compressor. Why spend $100.00's to replace the compressor when for less than $250.00 you can replace the Clutch only? If you have basic mechanical skills you can do it by yourself without dealing with the Refrigerant. By replacing only the clutch, you are saving on labor, compressor and parts like filter drier and expansion valve.
