Product Review
Cowboy singing sensation Jimmy Wakely is back in the saddle for more six-gun thrills and excitement in this straight-shooting, hard-riding collection. One of the last of the cowpoke crooners, Wakely began his Western career as a country vocalist, providing musical support for Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy and other screen wranglers before ramrodding his own series of shoot-‘em-ups, made for Monogram Pictures between 1944 and 1949. Accompanied by sidekicks John “Dusty†James, Lee “Lasses†White and Dub “Cannonball†Taylor, Wakely warbled his way through 28 oaters, and this action-packed volume ropes in six of his best, including Silver Trails (1948), which introduces Jimmy’s old pal – and future Monogram sage star – the lash-cracking hero Whip Wilson!
