Constructed of our own proprietary blend of 1680 denier Ripstop ballistic nylon, our TUFF series dog beds are the most chew-proof cushion beds available. These densely woven covers will resist tearing and scratching, and the Ripstop pattern of fibers prevents small holes from growing in size. We have also replaced zippers with a single industrial Velcro closure to eliminate any zipper-related emergency visits to the vet. The smooth, canvas-like texture of the bed allows dirt, fur, and liquids to slide right off, so cleanup is a breeze. Most spills and messes can be simply wiped off with a damp towel, but if a more intensive cleaning is needed both the removable cover and mattress can be machine-washed in cold water on a delicate cycle. The Original TUFF Bed uses a nesting mattress composed of a lightweight, flexible polyester stuffing that allows plenty of airflow to keep the bed fresh and airy. Moisture passes right through for quick drying, and the channeled mattress prevents clumping and allows nesters to burrow down deep into the mattress without deforming its plump shape.

Experienced dog owners know that there's nothing out there short of hard metal that's truly chew-proof; dogs have been known to chew through Kevlar, sheetrock, and chain-link fencing, to name a few, but when it comes to a soft, pillow-style bed, our TUFF beds really are the toughest on the market. The Original TUFF Bed has a Chew Proof Rating of 4 out of 5, meaning that it will stand up to 90% of chewers and works best for light or moderate chewers. For a heavy or persistent chewer, only our Cujo Cot Raised Aluminum bed will do. If you do have a dog that manages to damage this bed within the first 90 days of purchase, we'll replace the cover once free of charge as per our Chew Proof Guarantee.
