Johann Strauss II created immortal music full of effervescence and swirling waltzes. The 1950's-70's saw an operetta boom in Germany, both on stage and in the recording studios, with stars like Rudolf Schock, Fritz Wunderlich, Anneliese Rothenberger and Erika Koth. Warner Classics is releasing for the first time in a single box-set original highlights produced in Cologne in those days. In addition to works by Strauss II, there are also classics by Zeller, Millocker, Suppe, Jessel and Kunneke.
