It's great to do it immediately after you purchase your shoes or sneakers (the product also features a stain fighter), however if you clean your sneakers or shoes, then you can follow it up with The Higher Power. This product is EXCELLENT on Vans, Converse Chuck Taylors and even on the fabric/mesh parts of other sneakers (like Nike Free). The product has gone through extensive testing and definitely works. We stand behind it 100 percent ! If you have any problems with it, just let us know. Directions for Use: Always be sure that the surface is properly cleaned and dry before application. Test in a small inconspicuous area before doing the entire surface to make sure it does not affect the dye in the material. Spray 4-5 inches away from fabric using gentle overlaying sweeping motions. Do not saturate the material; less is more. Spray evenly over entire surface and a little extra on seams. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes between coats. Do not use on leather. Keep out of reach of children. See bottle for emergency procedures if the product gets consumed or in your eyes.
