Supposedly invented in Gouda, Netherlands, in the 18th century the stroopwafel, mistakenly called waffle sometimes, is the most consumed Dutch cookie. And the most delicious we must add! A good stroopwafel can be bent without breaking and has a thick but not overdone layer of syrup in between.
