I did not see the film, "Easy Rider", until it was shown on British TV in 1996. However, the idea of riding a motorcycle across the USA had always appealed to me. In the early 1980s my sister, Philippa and her husband, Mike, were living in the USA, in Arizona, so I saved up my pounds and pences, and my leave allowance from my job in the scientific civil service, and resolved to fulfil my ambition.
