Here are some very useful tips to help make the colon tube work more effectively for you.

1. Ensure you have a bowel movement before using the colon tube.

2. Consider laying on your left side with knees bent. This allows gravity to pull the colon tube down once it nears the splenic flexure.

3. As you are inserting the colon tube, push slowly forward while also turning it in a clockwise motion.

4. If you hit resistance, pull back on the colon tube, allow some fluid to enter your colon from the enema kit as that will help expand the colonic walls allowing more space for the colon tube to travel. Then, try again to slowly insert and turn the colon tube again. You may have to repeat this trick a few times.

5. Never force the colon tube as it will bend. It is not meant to be forced. This is a built in safety feature. There are stiff colon tubes out there but they increase the risk of colonic wall punctures.
