When a young woman’s body is found at the famous Painted Cave, Detective Robin Crane sets out on an exciting game of cat and mouse to find a killer who is more dangerous than he seems. Detective Crane, along with her partner and former lover, Detective Douglas Debayle, soon discovers that not only was the first victim a student, but there may be a link to the death of another student. With a primary suspect identified and the backstory slowly falling into place, it is up to Detectives Crane and Debayle to close the case before another body is added to the unfolding tragedy.
This police thriller with a romantic twist elegantly and entertainingly transports the reader on the shoulders of two young and ambitious detectives from the canyons of Santa Barbara to the jungles of Nicaragua, and back to the closed doors of university professors. Author B A Smith deftly uses the relationships between the characters to tell a story of ambition, hope, and fear, but especially of love. Love in every shape and color infuses the individual narratives and imbues the main story with a very human perspective.
