The Aiphone IER-2 chime extension speaker supplements a door answering system by extending audio notification into remote areas where a master handset or intercom cannot be installed. The three-level adjustable volume ensures that a chime can be heard over ambient noise. The speaker works with many Aiphone intercom and door answering systems including the DB, IE-1AD, IE-1GD, JF, JK, KA, KB, MK, and TCM series. Housing dimensions are 4-3/4 x 3-1/2 x 1-1/8 inches/120 x 88 x 29 mm (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The unit requires an Aiphone 822206 wire (sold separately).

Door intercom systems allow an occupant of a building to communicate remotely with a visitor through at least one door intercom and master intercom. Master intercoms with a door-access button remotely unlock the door for the visitor.
