What are Probiotics?
The term “probiotic†refers to live bacteria included in foods or supplements that may help support healthy host/bacteria interactions in the gastrointestinal tract. Probiotics may help support digestive system health.* *This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
The Intestinal Tract
The intestinal tract hosts a microbial ecosystem that includes more than 400 bacterial species. The largest concentration is in the colon. Lifestyle factors such as stress and diet may affect the composition of the microbiota. As we age, the numbers of bacteria, especially bifidobacteria, may decrease. Species of lactobacillus mostly inhabit the small intestine, and species of bifidobacterium are located predominantly in the large intestine or colon.
It’s All in the Delivery
Probiotics are delicate. Heat, moisture, and harsh stomach acids can take them out. insync is the brand with GI Guard — a patented technology which releases gradually over time to protect delicate probiotics from stomach acid, so they arrive alive to do their work. insync contains 3 billion live bacteria at time of manufacture and provides a minimum of 1 billion live bacteria at time of product expiration.
National Gastroenterologist Survey Results**
Doctors recommended probiotic supplements that contain a blend of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, as contained in insync. They also understood that conditions, such as heat, moisture, and stomach acids affect probiotic performance, and recognized the benefit of a gradual release caplet to help probiotics stay alive. **Based on a national survey of gastroenterologists who recommend probiotics to their patients.
