These hardy plants grow tall and need enough space width-wise as well. Plant your tubers as least 30" apart so they can properly spread out. In Hardiness zones 3 through 7, lift the tuber out of the soil in the fall, once they're done blooming and have wilted. You can save them in a paper bag in a cool, dry place and plant them again the following spring!
