Dropping cornices is standard practice in the backcountry, but if the Cornice is actually your newest pair of Smith sunglasses, it's better to keep them on your face. Sure, they're made out of rugged cellulose propionate and have impact-resistant Carbonic TLT lenses, but it would be a huge bummer to scratch off that sexy (and incredibly useful) polarization or bend the metal barrel hinges. Best to keep the Cornice's sharp, tight lines where they belong.
