Lingonberries are close relatives to the blueberry and cranberry. The plants are native in some areas of North America, and are most abundantly found in the Scandinavian countries in Europe. The small red fruits, are known to be very high in anti-oxidants with documented research that show the fruits contain more of higher nutrients than that of other berries. The fruits have a fresh aroma and the flavor is mostly tart with a slight sweetness. Fruits have a firm skin and can be stored for several months at cold temperatures.
