Exiting exhaust gasses are sometimes pulled back into the engine by descending piston before exhaust valve gets a chance to close. Exhaust gases in the cylinder contaminate the mixture of fuel and clean air and significantly reduce engines performance.
Torque cones are commonly used to prevent these from happening. Torque cones are causing the exiting exhaust gasses to speed up (venture effect) which stops it from being sucked back into the engine. It is always a good idea to install torque cones to insure great performance of your engine.
