Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer which opened off-Broadway in May 1959, and then moved to Broadway. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. There are 34 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-17 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 18-34 contain the accompaniment tracks alone. This album is a fully-orchestrated re-recording in the original show key and show tempo. There are no on-screen lyrics or lyric booklet provided.
