Vibrant Autumn leaves inspired a Pilot researcher to capture the same dynamic color change in a test tube. A special formulation that would vividly change color at different temperatures was developed. The unique color-changing technology was initially used to create children's toys. Several years later, another Pilot researcher modified the formulation to create disappearing ink-and FriXion erasable gel ink pens were born!
