It is a modern version ready to use in 2014 and beyond. It contains common expressions, nouns, verbs, and the phonetic spelling of these words. It contains the written sentences you need to buy something at the store, change your flight, make a hotel reservation, use the internet, etc. You may wish to read these from the book or simply point them out for someone to read. There is an index containing hundreds of words listed by both their English and their Norwegian spellings.
