Welcome, fellow therapists! If you are struggling to build a profitable private practice, you probably have a lot of questions about what it takes to break through to six figures, earning $100,000 per year and beyond.
- What does it take to earn $100,000 per year or more in private practice?
- What is the best way to attract new clients?
- Do I need to have a website?
- What is the biggest mistake therapists make in trying to build a thriving practice?
These are exactly the kinds of questions I answer in Building a 6-Figure Private Practice: The Magic Formula for Psychotherapists.
After getting my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, I couldn’t wait to start my own practice! It had been my dream for years. But as I began building my practice, I saw that clients didn’t just land in my waiting room offering to hand me money. At first I was frustrated: I spent a lot of time and money on my education, now what? In fact, it got so bad I almost had to close my practice and give up on my dream.
However, before grad school, I spent 10 years working as a consultant. During this time I learned so much about what does and doesn’t work to build and market a business. I began to apply what I knew about running a successful consulting business to my own private practice.
Over the next two years, I discovered that many of the same principles that worked for consulting also worked for psychotherapy. I found myself with a successful, profitable private practice.
Of course, I’ve made more than my fair share of mistakes along the way. Let’s call them “lessons learned”. But along the way I developed a system for establishing, growing and maintaining a private practice that works tremendously well, even during a recession.
However, in talking with friends and colleagues, I’ve realized that many excellent therapists have never been able become profitable in private practice. Some of them don’t even know where to start. Instead they feel stuck in agency work, overworked, overwhelmed, and underpaid.
Therapists just aren’t getting the essential business and marketing skills they need to be successful in private practice. Which is why I wrote this book, to provide the resources needed for therapists – just like you, who want to grow their own successful practices.
