Product Review
Famous as the last surviving member of Miles Davis
Kind of Blue band, Jimmy Cobb s music career over
the past 60 years includes other memorable work with
Earl Bostic, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughn, Wynton
Kelly, and Wes Montgomery.
He was teaching a master class at the New School for
Social Research in the mid-1980s when two of his
students demanded his attention: Brad Mehldau
reminded him of his old friend Wynton Kelly, and Peter
Bernstein of Grant Green. He says, There weren t too
many young kids going for that.
They were soon joined by young Chicago bassist John
Webber, and Jimmy Cobb s Mob was born. They re all
major players, and here they reunite for the first time
in many years!
A classic Cobb-like set of swinging music, with a few
modern surprises thrown in.
