- Specification: AWS A5.9/ASME SFA A5.9/ER308L; 36" (914mm) length of rod with single end stamped; typical deposited chemical composition %: C=0.02, Si=0.32, Mn=1.70, P=0.01, S=0.009, Cr=20.0, Ni=10, remain=Fe.
- Features and Applications: filler metal for TIG welding (GTAW) process in stainless steel 304, 304L, 308, 308L, 321 and 347; with carbon content held to a max of .03% to reduce the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation; most popular stainless wire for general-purpose applications where corrosion is moderate and applications at cryogenic temperatures; shielding gas required, usually 100% Argon.
