The small French crossroads town of Bastogne found itself at the very heart of one of the most infamous battles of the Second World War. The men of Easy Company of the 101st Airborne were surrounded - lacking equipment, winter clothing, and low on ammunition, they held-off the German forces long enough for reinforcements to break through. This small town was at the epicentre of some of the fiercest fighting in Western Europe, and the iconic church served as an aid station for the Americans.
