When William's son, Matthew, stands up against an oppressive government, he must entertain the king by shooting an apple off of Matthew's head with a crossbow to avoid the death penalty for them both. William succeeds, but the pair is still locked up. Cunningly, William escapes, and devises a plan to get Matthew out, too. But to do that, he'll need the help of some old friends with a long-held grudge.
