GENUINE KIRBY FILL TUBE Your Promise of Excellence Fits Heritage I & II, Legend I & II, G3, G4 and G5. This is the tube that carries the dirt to the paper bag. After years it often becomes brittle and cracks near the bottom. If your cloth bag is dirty inside, this is usually the culprit This is a new part, made by Kirby. I will include two Kirby black ties necessary for attachment. These ties have a tinsel strength of 50 lbs, I have never had one break. Many dealers only put one tie on each end of the fill tube. One tie will hold fine on each end of the fill tube.Instructions: To remove the old fill tube, cut the plastic shrink wrap from both ends to reveal the ties. With a pair of wire cutters cut off the ends of the ties. Cut into the old tube so that you can grab the old fill tube wire with pliers, and pull it from the emptor and the tube top. The neck of the Emptor is threaded so that you can screw the new tube onto it. Use a new tie to secure the new fill tube to the Emptor neck. I use pliers to pull the tie very tight, and have never had one break. For extra protection I am including two additional ties. I use two on each end of the tube. Hint; A little liquid detergent applied to the emptor and top adaptor make this job easier. The top is installed the same way, but be sure that it faces toward the back of the Emptor before tightening the tie. Locate the tie end on the side so that it does not rub on the cloth or paper bag. Use the hose of your Kirby to vacuum the dirt from the cloth bag, do this before you reattach the fill tube top to the cloth bag strap, so that the paper bag is out of the way. Loose dirt in the cloth bag decreases cleaning efficiency of your machine. For G3, G4 and G5 owners Kirby makes an upgrade to the new style snap type Fill Tube and Emptor. The new Emptor/Fill Tube System virtually eliminates fill tube replacement, and creates a seal between the fill tube and emptor and the fill tube and top adapter that meets HEPA standards.
