DESTINATION TOKYO (1943) - Grant plays the captain of a submarine making its battle-strewn way from San Francisco to the Aleutians and into the enemy's front yard. Delmer Daves (who cowrote with Albert Maltz) directs, while John Garfield leads an array of costars playing boys-next-door gone to war. ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1944) - Frank Capra breezily directs this classic farce written by Julius J. and Philip G. Epstein basedon the Broadway hit. A frazzled drama critic's two maiden aunts put a secret ingredient in their wine – and the result is howlingly hilarious, with Grant at his comic best.
