Oedipus Rex, the most famous of the ancient Greek tragedies, tells the story of how a man, seemingly blameless, can be guilty of terrible crimes, unknowingly committed, which demand his fall and punishment; a story which has fascinated countless philosophers and theorists, and inspired thousands of rewrites by subsequent authors. Its sequel, Oedipus at Colonus, tells the story of his final redemption. The Greek text is presented with an interlinear Latin translation and a literal English translation to give the reader improved access to the meaning of the original.
