Drilling holes can leave debris and leaves the cartridge to dry out easy, the other generic ink/cartridges are not Brother quality and may permanently damage your print heads and they do not regulate pressure which is required for the best quality printing! Brother ink cartridge have special pressure equilibrium design and the cheap knock-off's do not have this and leave you with an inferior quality. This product allows you to keep your own existing Brother cartridge, which is the highest quality, empty and refill it like they do at the factories, and use it for high quality printing for a long time at the optimum pressure.

This will work with newer Brother cartridges with chips. As soon as you receive the "low ink notification" you should fill up the cartridge. If you do not do this, and let the cartridge go completely empty, then you can still fill it and print fine, however there will be a 'warning' indicator that your cartridge is empty that does not go away. In this case, you can either continue to use it (no performance loss, just the error message), or reset the chip with a special chip resetter available from INKUTEN.
