The Common Honey Locust Tree is an excellent lawn tree for providing filtered shade. This tree can reach heights between 30 to 70 feet.

Soil Type: Prefers rich, moist bottomlands and limestone soils, salt tolerant and tolerant of drought conditions.

Zones: 4 to 9

Germination Range: 70-90%

Stratification Requirement: Seeds should be scarified. Place seeds in a mason jar lined with coarse sandpaper and shake for 2-3 minutes or use a file to nick the seeds. Soak in water for 24 hours and then plant. Germination trials show the seed germinating with just a 24 hour water soak.
