Use an External Mic (ECM) to Record Audio on Your Smartphone or iPhone

Male 3.5mm TRRS to Female 3.5mm Microphone Jack

How it Works: Plug the adapter into the iPhone/smartphone (or other device) headset jack and then plug your microphone into the adapter. The iPhone will recognize that an external mic is connected and turn its internal mic off allowing you to record using the external microphone. This adapter works with all audio/video recording apps and other functions just as the internal mic would.

PLEASE NOTE: This adapter for mics without batteries. Please see our 01-iPhone-Mic-Dynamic adapter for mics with batteries. Also, sound input for smartphone connections is mono. You are able to input stereo sound; however, only one side of the microphone will work.

Types of microphones that work with this adapter:
- Electret Condenser Mics (ECM) that require 2 VDC plug in power
- Lavalier ECM Microphones (without batteries)
- ECM PC Microphones
- ECM Headset/boom Microphones
