Alexander Fesca, born in Karlsruhe in 1820, spent the largest part of his life there. He then took up residence in Braunschweig as a chamber virtuoso to Prince von Furstenberg in 1842 but died there of a lung ailment in 1849. Fesca compiled a considerable catalogue of sixty works with opus numbers, his main focus piano and chamber music. Op. 12 and 46, two of his six Piano Trios, were composed during the 1840s and thus belong to the same period as relevant works by Mendelssohn and Schumann. Piano Trio . 5 merits special mention: a highly appealing work with a wealth of beautiful melodies.
