Product Description Premium Organic Japanese Kukicha Loose Leaf Green Tea Kukicha is made mainly from selected stems and stalks of the green tea plant which are steamed and then roasted. It has a unique taste among green teas with a slight nutty flavour. Prepared the same way as Sencha but harvested later on in the season when the caffeine content is lower. Direct from JAS certified organic plantation in the natural surroundings of the Tenryu mountain range. Ocha & Co. was set up after a trip back home in 2011 and a fruitless search for quality Japanese Green Teas in the local health shops and supermarkets. There just wasn't any! The aim of the company is to provide the same quality and range of teas you would normally buy if living in Japan. The teas come from a JAS certified organic green tea farming co-operative in Shizuoka where they grow and prepare the different available types on sale. Small batches are shipped from the manufacturer each month to ensure long shelf-life and freshness. The teas have been selected for the overseas market to strike a balance between quality and affordability and can found in high-end supermarkets and retails outlets in Japan such as Kinokuniya.Teas from Ocha & Co. were selected to represent Japan at the 2015 Speciality & Fine Food Fair at Olympia in London - the leading event for quality artisan foods in the UK (see picture). We also exhibit at the Tokyo Biofach Organic Trade Show each year. Simple, clean minimalistic packaging with stylized Japanese calligraphy. The Ocha & Co range now covers most of the types of tea readily drunk in Japan, namely; Sencha, Fukamushicha (deep-steamed sencha), Kukicha (stems and twigs), Genmai Matcha (roasted brown rice, sencha and matcha) and Matcha. The teas are usually shipped Airmail the same day and only take between 7-10 days to arrive from Japan.
