Sophie Ware (Wendy Crewson) is a Toronto-based musician who returns to run the family ranch following her father's death. Struggling with the financial and emotional strain of the operation, Sophie is surprised by an offer of assistance from her old friend Alex (Paul Gross), the farm's handyman: a marriage of convenience between the two to keep the farm afloat.

But this business-motivated venture hits some stormy weather when old wounds are opened and a history that both Sophie and Alex would prefer to ignore cannot be suppressed.
