John Buchan, the novelist, the politician, the historian, was appointed Governor General of Canada in 1935. He created memorable characters of fiction, such as Dickson McCunn, Richard Hannay and Sir Edward Leithen, but also wrote amazing volumes on the history of England and its colonies.

This collection presents nine of his books, with the original pictures and illustrations, ranging from biographies of King George and Sir Walter Scott, to the history of the African colonies.
